On-the-Job Training uses the regular or existing work place, tools, machines, documents, equipment knowledge, and skills necessary for an employee to learn to effectively perform his or her job. OJT is a contractual agreement made between the business and Cherokee Nation. OJT is a wise, cost-effective way to staff positions with job-ready, pre-screened applicants.
Good Quality Jobs for Cherokees
One of the goals of Career Services is to help Cherokees get the skills they need to secure good paying jobs that are a path to self sufficiency. OJT participants are restricted to those who are Cherokee Nation citizens living within the reservation.

How do you get the process started?
Wage Reimbursement
During a training period, up to three months, the Cherokee Nation will reimburse employee wages up to 50%. There is minimal paperwork required of the employer and payments are made monthly.
Job Ready Employees
Applicants have been assessed to meet your job specifications. We will make referrals, but you make the decision on who to hire. You can also send applicants to us for eligibility screening; we will notify you if they qualify.
You hire based on your HR policies and procedures.
