Any member of the public, 6 months and older, regardless of where they live, is eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Walk-ins are welcome at any of the tribe’s outpatient health centers from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for the Cherokee Nation Family Medicine Residency Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be a U.S. citizen or a non-citizen/foreign national with permanent resident visa.
  2. Be currently enrolled as a 4th year medical student at, or have previously graduated from, an osteopathic medical school accredited by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) or an accredited US-LCME Medical School
  3. Must have passed parts 1 and 2 (CE and PE if applicable) of the COMLEX exam or USMLE equivalent
  4. Must submit their application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS); our ACGME ID # is 1203900670

Additional Qualifications

In addition to the above minimum requirements, applicants must also include the following in their application:

  1. An official transcript from a COCA accredited osteopathic medical school or accredited US-LCME Medical School, including GPA
  2. 3 letters of recommendation
  3. All COMLEX or USMLE equivalent board examination scores
  4. Applicants who did not attend a COCA accredited College of Osteopathic Medicine must complete 60 hours of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine training available through Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and must have one letter of recommendation from a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Please contact the residency program for more information regarding this.

Interview/Application/Selection Process

Applications will be accepted from September through December 31 of each application cycle. Interviews will be conducted from October until February 15 of the application cycle. Applications must be submitted via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS); our program’s ACGME ID # is 1203900670. Applicants must also be registered with the National Resident Match Program (NRMP); the program’s NRMP code is 2171120C3. The interviewing team will consist of the Program Director, members of the program Core Faculty, and current residents. Interviews will be conducted in person; however, circumstances may develop that would necessitate interviews to be conducted virtually, and virtual interviews can be arranged upon request. Selection of candidates will be determined by the Program Director, with input from other program members.
