Any member of the public, 6 months and older, regardless of where they live, is eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Walk-ins are welcome at any of the tribe’s outpatient health centers from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Salary

  • PGY-1: $55,000
  • PGY-2: $57,500
  • PGY-3: $60,000

Insurance

Residents in the Cherokee Nation Family Medicine Residency Program are covered under the Federal Tort Claims Act for activities related to the residency training program. Secondary insurance coverage is also provided for the residents by the Cherokee Nation
As Cherokee Nation employees, residents are offered health/dental/vision/life insurance during their training.

PTO/CME

Residents are allowed 20 days of leave each year, which can be used for vacation or personal leave. 
Residents are allowed 10 educational days (Monday-Friday) throughout their 3-year program that can be used for CME events, board examinations, and scholarly activity presentations.

Professional Memberships/Fees

The following memberships, fees, and trainings are covered for the residents by the Cherokee Nation Family Medicine Residency Program:

  1. Membership fees for AOA, ACOFP, AAFP
  2. Oklahoma Medical License
  3. OBNDD
  4. DEA
  5. BLS/ACLS/PALS (on-site training only)

Lab coats

One lab coat is provided to residents during each year of training.

Laptops

A work-issued laptop is provided to each resident at the beginning of training for use during residency.

Educational Resources

Residents will have access to the OSU Medical Library, which has a vast collection of educational resources, including UpToDate, AccessMedicine, board review resources, etc.  A point-of-care ultrasound device will be provided at the beginning of the training program as well.

Education Stipends

  • PGY-1: $2000
  • PGY-2: $1500
  • PGY-3: $3000

Meals

Breakfast and lunch are provided to the residents at both Cherokee Nation Outpatient Health Center and W.W. Hastings Hospital at no cost while at work.

Call rooms

Call rooms are provided on site for resident use on rotations at Cherokee Nation facilities.
