Any member of the public, 6 months and older, regardless of where they live, is eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Walk-ins are welcome at any of the tribe’s outpatient health centers from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Cherokee Nation Emergency Medical Services (CNEMS) is a state-licensed paramedic level ambulance service owned and operated by the Cherokee Nation serving people in Cherokee, southern Delaware, northern Sequoyah, and western Adair counties. CNEMS consists of three major components: ambulance services, communications, and training.

Emergency Medical Service Components

Ambulance Services:

Providing Paramedic Level services to all residents within Cherokee County and designated coverage areas, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Communications:

Provides support and staff located within the Cherokee County 911 Communications Center. For all emergencies please call 911.

Training Program:

This program offers a multitude of training opportunities and health promotion in communities. The program is certified through agencies such as:

  • American Heart Association
  • National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians
  • National Safety Council
  • American Geriatrics Society
  • Oklahoma State Department of Health

CAAS Accredited Service

Cherokee Nation EMS became the first tribe in the United States and the first EMS service in Oklahoma to achieve accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS). Accreditation signifies that CNEMS meets the highest national standards for the medical transport industry – standards that often exceed those established by state or local regulatory bodies.

Cherokee Nation Emergency Medical Service was one of two agencies in Cherokee county originally providing personnel to staff the 911 Center. The commitment to the 911 center continues, as does our commitment to the citizens within the Cherokee Nation's tribal jurisdictional service area.
